GOLDEN LATTE
Written By Camille Hoffman
If you’re not yet on the golden latte train, it’s high time you bought your ticket! Especially if you are stuck at Inflammation Station, like the majority of us travelers in this earthly plane. Too much? Ha ha, sorry, but I just HAD to grab your attention this time because I want you to be well, and this simple, inexpensive “home remedy” can make a big impact if you are dealing with pain, inflammation, gut issues and more.

Turmeric, the star ingredient of this healing drink, contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, enjoying a surge in popularity, and among the most widely studied natural remedies today. And it’s not just a fad, turmeric has been used medicinally for over 2000 years in India and China for a range of health conditions.Would you be surprised to hear that research has shown curcumin to be as effective and sometimes more effective than pharmaceutical drugs in treating pain, inflammation and inhibiting the spread of cancer cells? And without side effects? Ya. Well, stop being surprised and start imbibing this gift from the earth…it’s delicious.
Curcumin supports healthy liver function, improves blood flow, supports healing of the digestive tract, improves microbiome diversity, fights free-radical damage, decreases inflammation, fights heart disease and stroke, improves skin conditions, and has been used to treat arthritis, cancer, cystic fibrosis, Crohn’s disease, colitis, depression, type 2 diabetes, eye diseases, gall bladder disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Yowza.

There are a lot of golden latte, or “golden milk” recipes out there. Mine is crafted to taste great and optimize the therapeutic effects of this healing drink:

Pairing turmeric with fats (coconut milk) and piperine (in pepper) increases absorption and enhances anti-inflammatory effects. Ginger is also anti-inflammatory, and good for nausea and reflux, and adds a nice zing. Cinnamon for flavor and helps prevent blood sugar spikes. Slippery elm powder is purely optional, but if you can find it, it is well worth using. It soothes the gut and supports GI tract healing. You can check your local organic shop or find it online.

Enjoy this lovely Golden Latte as a nightcap…or better yet, drink it instead of your afternoon coffee, your adrenals will thank you for it.
