Interviews of our senior graphics designer Eden and our super talented sign maker Cole: Cutting Edge Signs & Graphics
LifeLab is a local Nelson Tasman specific careers website for young people, their whānau, and careers advisors. It’s also useful for young people from outside the region considering a move here. To showcase the possibilities for a young person to join the signage industry LifeLab has taken interviews of our senior graphics designer Eden and our super talented sign maker Cole.
Eden, who is 28 years old, has been working at Cutting Edge for four years as a skilled graphic designer. Her primary responsibility is managing the company’s printers, as well as creating logos and designing vehicle graphics in various styles. Eden has always been passionate about creative design, and took design classes during high school. Later, she pursued her passion further by studying a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Graphic Design) at CPIT, now known as Ara Institute, in Christchurch
Cole, 25, is a sign writer at Cutting Edge. He stumbled into this role after his softball coach offered him a job in the industry which he enjoyed instantly. After gaining some experience, he took a bold step forward and began a three-year sign writing apprenticeship. He is now responsible for the installation of wraps and signs, including the application of vinyl wraps which serve as an alternative to traditional vehicle painting. “Wraps are an alternative option to painting a vehicle but with vinyl, basically like a big sticker”.
