As a result of the recent funding for an activation(s) in the CBD to encourage locals to come into the city centre during winter, a Winter Wonderland Ice Skating community event will be delivered to support Fifeshire Foundation’s Winter Grants.
The wonderland will be located in the old variety store building in Wakatu Carpark at the following times:
Wed/Thu: 2pm – 8pm
Fri: 1pm – 9pm
Sat: 9am – 10pm
Sun: 9am – 4pm
Operated by Ice Skate Tour, the artificial ice rink looks like ice and feels like you’re skating on ice, but it’s a sustainable, green solution – no need for power to keep the rink cold, or wasting water to produce the ice etc.
Fifeshire Foundation’s Winter Grants are used to support local families in hardship this winter. Assisting with the cost of power or firewood – they help keep our whanau warm. The scheme has so far received over 100 nominations for support, including $10K from Network Tasman Trust and $5K from Whakatū Rotary.
