E ngā iwi o te motu tēnā koutou katoa. Tukua ō koutou hinengaro kia kawea ki tētehi haerenga whakamīharo ki te ao Kapa Haka i roto i Te Tauihu, rā roto i ngā karu o te kaiwhakaahua nei o Melissa Banks.

Prepare to be taken on a captivating journey into the world of Kapa Haka in Te Tauihu, the Top of the South, through the lens of photographer Melissa Banks.

Mā ngā mahi kaiaka a Melissa i te taha whakaahua, ataata, ororongo hoki, ka kawea te hunga peka mai ki roto rawa i ngā rōpū, ki tō rātou ao mahana, ao piri tata, o ngā whakaharatau me ngā whakatū waewae o mua, kia tika ai te tū, e rere ai te ihi, e tau ai te wana, e mau ai te wehi i te atamira nui.

Banks’ masterful use of photography, video and sound will transport visitors behind the scenes to the warmth and intimacy of Kapa Haka practice and preparation through to the transcendent energy of performing on the big stage.

From the beauty of the poi to the power of the haka, this stunning exhibition celebrates the complexity of Kapa Haka and its significance in our community.

Ka kitea hoki i te taha ngā taonga mai i te Kohinga a Pupuri Taonga ki te Tai Ao, ā, he mahi ngā āhuatanga ka taea te whakamātau e te whānau katoa – kaua e wareware ki te peka mai ki tēnei whakakitenga nui whakaharahara!

Supported by taonga from Nelson Provincial Museum’s Collection and featuring interactive experiences for the whole family – this special opportunity is not to be missed!
