Become a Life Linc Local Hero
The Life Linc Local Hero Campaign is a way for the community to support the delivery of affordable counselling services to the Whakatū te tai o Aorere. For a donation starting at $500, you can become our Local Hero. You will join a supporter’s group that will be an integral part of the delivery of our services for the next year. Supporters under the campaign will receive a 145mm round sticker to display in their shop or car windows and we encourage you to share this with your own network. There will be a special event held in August 2024 to celebrate all that the Local Hero Campaign has accomplished over the 2023 year and a special celebration for Life Linc Nelson’s 50th birthday in March 2024.

Life Linc Nelson was established as Lifeline Nelson in 1974 as a crisis phone counselling service. In 2006, a need was seen to establish face-to-face counselling and we launched that with six sessions of counselling available for clients. This has expanded to a standard offer of 10 sessions for individuals, couples or families to access. In 2016, it was proposed that all the Lifeline branches around Aotearoa were to come under the umbrella of Lifeline Aotearoa based in Auckland. We felt that our community would be best served by us remaining independent and that is when we established the Trust to work as Life Linc Nelson.
We work with fully qualified and in-training counsellors to provide affordable counselling services to the community. With the cost of $25 per session for individuals and $50 per session for couples counselling, our counselling services are extremely affordable for people to access. Any donations above the minimum allow us to help offset costs. By removing the financial barriers to seeking help, we can ensure people get the counselling they need in a supportive environment and that helps improve their home/work/relationships day to day.
Our vision is to create positive change in our communities by enabling people to find more ease and joy in their lives and their relationships. We are dedicated to helping the wider community and want to remove any stigma associated with counselling. We work with clients from ages 10+ and undergo cultural training to ensure our counselling team are equipped to work with people from varied backgrounds. We are a part of the community and here to serve.
