Scottish born folk blues jazz singer songwriter Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell Aka Ma Bell returns to Tasman /Nelson Communities for a not to be missed night of storytelling and top shelf acoustic sounds.
Ma Bell dons the mantle of Madame Tragedie to tell her story of the blues, a story which began in 1949 in a council housing estate in the once shipbuilding Clydeside town of Greenock in Scotland.
Born into a large family of singers and theatre folk Ma Bell is the real deal, an authentic folk blues singer songwriter who has travelled the world performing in schools, prisons, festivals, major events and venues locally nationally and internationally.
You can expect to hear the very best of Izzy’s back catalogue including a selection of material from Accent on the Blues, Blues Angel and Madame Tragedie alongside a preview of new original material earmarked for her forthcoming album Glory Road.
Ma Bell will be accompanied by two of the South finest jazz blues session musicians featuring John Bevin on piano/vocals with Michael Kime on upright bass. Tasman based songstress Debra Lee makes a special guest appearance bringing her sophisticated sass and sensitive soulful voice and unique interpretation to classic covers by the likes of Mary Coughlan & Sting,
