Bridge Street Collective – Coworking Studio in Central Nelson

When I walk into Bridge Street Collective I am always inspired by this ‘New York’ style of hot-desking that is available in our CBD in sunny Nelson.

It’s a vibrant space in the heart of our CBD that hosts some very clever and big-hitting creatives.

Hot desking and hybrid working has become even more popular over the last few years. Remember Covid lockdowns? We couldn’t go to the regular office, so we needed to adapt and work remotely.

“It’s been a blessing in disguise. People can become happier and more productive when they work from an independent location and integrate their lifestyle into their work patterns,” says Keegan.

This is where the Bridge Street Collective offers a perfect solution.

“We have engineers, architects, graphic designers, and many more working under one roof. We have built up a culture where it’s fun coming to work and we socialise regularly and feel like a family,” says Keegan.

“We offer high-speed internet and a space where local business ppl and creatives can come and work efficiently as part of a like-minded community. There is a cafe next door which is ideal for professional meetings. There’s a range of subscriptions to suit your situation.”

Every Wednesday they shout fresh scones for morning tea. It creates an all-inclusive atmosphere. Many of their regular members end up doing business together as a result.

‘If you put people in a room and they mingle and chat, trust is developed and business happens.” says Keegan.

It’s a snippet of how New Yorkers are doing business in the USA. We have this in Nelson and it’s always improving. In fact The Bridge Street Collective was one of New Zealand’s first coworking spaces. Galen founded it in 2011. He has always been a visionary for these kinds of things.

Keegan has been the manager for several years. His work desk is auto height adjusting and he has big plans to eventually provide these for everyone.

“Posture is critical when you are working remotely. It’s too easy to crouch over a screen for hours and you wonder why your neck and shoulders ache. The new desks will assist with this and help with productivity. We have storage spaces and photocopy machines on site.

Many of the professionals are attracted to this style of office set-up are thriving by working for 4 days and taking a long weekend and returning Monday morning sun-tanned and re-vitalised.”

“Some of our members choose to work longer hours over 3 – 4 days a week, and we don’t see them till the next week. Where are they? They are out enjoying the local offerings with their families like camping trips to the Abel Tasman, Golden Bay and more.”

It’s all about working smarter. Utilising AI (Artificial Intelligence), local networks and making sure you have the best work/life balance possible. You can achieve a lot more when you think about your business in this way.”

“Many of our members generate work together as they get to know each other. Trust and rapport are built during morning tea and the results are staggering!”

Check it out and see if this is something that might work for you. New to Nelson? Bridge Street Collective is a great way to meet professional locals.
