Jewellery Sale up to 40% Off: Louise Douglas Jewellery
For the past 15 years Nelson has known Louise Douglas for her organic handmade jewellery. For the last four and half years she has sold her designs from her charming boutique on Hardy Street in the heart of Nelson City.
Louise and her husband Martin moved from Boston USA to Nelson for the slower pace of life and to raise their then 3 year old son. Fast forward to now, and with her son starting at university, Louise is ready to hang up her retail hat. Her business has continued to thrive despite the challenges of Covid 19 and the tough economic times of late, something she attributes to smart cashflow management, diverse marketing, a focus on personal service and just old fashioned hard work.
With the end of her lease approaching in June and with a big boost in her online sales she has decided it’s time to take her business to online only while she works out the next steps in her career. She still enjoys the retail business and has loved being apart of the Nelson city community. “I have had such amazing support from regular customers over the years, I hope they will continue to support me online.”
Louise mentioned that she would likely find a store to sell her collections somewhere in Nelson, knowing she has some loyal customers that will miss their special jewellery fix for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas. It’s always nice to be able to see the quality and workmanship in person.
“Running a retail, wholesale and manufacturing business is very hard work and I’ve had an amazing team working with me over many years. Team work makes the dream work we always say.” Her all-female staff has been like a sisterhood, supporting each-other and growing professionally and personally together. But Louise said it is time for her to take some time in her life to explore what else is out there. “I have been in the jewellery industry since I was 18 years old and as I turned 50 this year it felt like the right time to explore other challenges both creatively and professionally.”
So while the jewellery will stay online for now there may be new offerings in the future as Louise explores her love for art making, sculpture and more.
Her end of lease sale starts this week with 25%- 40% off selected jewellery, with many unique one off items on offer at discounted prices. She expects the jewellery to be flying out the door, and encourages customers to think ahead for their special gifting needs and they will be sure to pick up a bargain. The sale will continue through until June with discounts increasing as the end of lease draws closer.
Lastly, Louise wants to extend her gratitude to the many who have supported her and her retail business over the years. “ It’s been such a pleasure!”
