Nelson’s First Winter Whisky Festival
Nelson’s First Winter Whisky Festival is set to take place from June 11-15, boasting a range of experiences centred around the famous drink.
Hosted by Kismet Cocktail & Whisky Bar, the festival includes a series of whisky tastings, plus events such as food and whisky pairings and informal daily lunchtime talks from industry insiders.
A highlight of the festival will be ‘Dram in the Clouds’ – an immersive experience which aims to showcase the subtle differences that elevation brings to whisky by sampling four whiskies at ground level, and again – after a short helicopter ride – atop the 1,500m summit of Mt Starveall.
The festival closes with a ceilidh and cocktail party, complete with bagpipes and traditional Scottish highland dancing.
The Winter Whisky Festival events are a mixture of free and ticketed entry, tickets, and the full event schedule, are available now.

WHISKY WHISPERS: INSIGHTS FROM THE INSIDERS
Ticket $25 – Includes dram and a sandwich
Join the people behind the brands in this lunch time ‘ Ted Talk’ format (20 to 30 minutes).
Listen to the ambassadors wax lyrical about the amber gold, the story of how they opened their distillery or even come to find out why only the Japanese can make whisky like the Japanese. Ticket includes a dram on arrival and a sandwich. The perfect lunch break!
A selection of sandwiches will be available.
WHISKY TASTING: DRAMS WITH THE BRANDS
Ticket $30 – Includes 5 tasting drams
Evening tastings in one of the several rooms at Kismet Cocktail & Whisky Bar. Enjoy exploring the distillery and their story with a up-close and personal presentation from either the owners or their brand ambassadors. Ticket includes the whiskies, breads and oils.
WHISKY DINNER: DINNER AND DRAMS
Ticket $ VARIES – Includes dinner & 5 drams
Enjoy a sit down dinner with Ambassadors from the whisky distilleries at one of our partner venues this Winter Whisky Festival. The chefs have been hard at work creating a bespoke menu to match the whiskies you will be exploring.
