Soprano Jasmine Jessen returns to Nelson on Sunday 17 May, 4pm at NCMA, joined by pianist Sarah Watkins.
Winner of the 2025 ODT Southern Aria Competition, Jasmine presents an intimate programme of art song and opera, featuring music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Benjamin Britten, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gaetano Donizetti, Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi.

Nelson-raised soprano Jasmine Jessen returns to NCMA for a 4pm recital, joined by pianist Sarah Watkins.

The programme moves through art song and opera, from Rachmaninoff and Britten’s On This Island to well-known arias by Mozart, Donizetti, Puccini and Verdi, alongside songs by Fauré and Lloyd Webber.

A graduate of Te Pae Kōkako – the Aotearoa New Zealand Opera Studio, Jasmine is building a national profile and was awarded first prize at the 2025 ODT Southern Aria Competition. This home performance offers a chance to hear her at an important stage in her career.

She is joined by award-winning pianist Sarah Watkins, a former founding member of NZTrio.

Presented as part of NCMA’s 125th anniversary series, this is an intimate concert with limited seating.
