T20 Cricket brings summer action to Nelson
Four International cricket matches are coming to town this summer.
The WHITE FERNS will take on Bangladesh in the first two matches of their three-game T20 series on Thursday, 10 December and Saturday, 12 December 2026.
WHITE FERNS captain Mellie Kerr has her sights on preparing for next year’s world cup, set to be hosted in New Zealand.
“The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy is on the horizon and every series between now and then is crucial for our development as a team.
“To host Bangladesh in a multi-format series this summer is a brilliant opportunity for our group. It’s a chance to play in front of our home fans and build real momentum heading into next year,” says Mellie.
Following the WHITE FERNS test, the BLACKCAPS will face Sri Lanka in the final two matches of their three-game T20 series on Friday 29 January and Sunday 31 January 2027, setting the stage for an action-packed weekend of world-class cricket.
Black Caps star Will Young is excited to play in front of the Nelson crowd, “Saxton Oval is one of those grounds that just has a great feel to it. Nelson is a beautiful part of New Zealand and the locals really embrace international cricket when it comes to town,” says Will.
Whether you’re a cricket fan or simply looking for a great day out with whānau and friends, these matches promise plenty of excitement, entertainment, and unforgettable moments in the Nelson summer sun.
“Back-to-back T20s on a Friday and a Sunday — that’s a fantastic weekend of cricket for the Top of the South. I’d really encourage people from Nelson, Marlborough and beyond to get along,” says Will.
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for ticket information.
