This Friday, Nelson comes alive – Bayleys Te Ramaroa – Nelson Light Festival 2026

For five winter nights, Bayleys Te Ramaroa will transform our city with light, music, performances, food and unforgettable experiences. But this festival has always been about something bigger than that.

It’s a reminder of what happens when a community comes together. Artists, volunteers, sponsors, schools, businesses, funders and locals, all contributing their time, talent and generosity to create something that belongs to everyone.

This is the power of creativity. The power of community.

This video is a glimpse of Mind in the Ether by Darklight (Angus Muir & Cat Ellis), an extraordinary work that will transform Christ Church Cathedral into a breathtaking world of light, sound and atmosphere.

We can’t wait to share it with you.
📍 July 3–7 | Nelson City

Want to know what’s happening and where? Our festival map and artwork guide are now live on the website, making it easy to plan your night (or two).
To help reduce waste, we won’t have printed maps available this year. If you’re a fan of the real thing, simply download the printable version from the map page before you arrive.

Lightworks, live music… and plenty of delicious food to keep you warm.
From fish and chips to Nepalese, Malaysian, Mexican, Argentinian BBQ, crêpes, hot nuts and more, our food trucks and stalls have your festival dinner sorted.
Find them beside the Cathedral steps and throughout Selwyn Place from July 3–7. Come hungry.
