Grandchildren…

Greeting dear friends & fellow navigators, & welcome to my world this week. We have our Japiwi grandchildren, & their parents here from yesterday until August 14th. For those unaware of the meaning of Japiwi, they are two beautiful grandchildren who live in Japan, half Japanese & Half Kiwi. We are also blessed to have two further grandchildren 10 kms away from us in Richmond.

Grandchildren are in my view, the happiness of your soul, & bring deep joy, renewed energy, & a special sense of purpose to life. Opinions on family fulfillment differ, but many people feel the bond with a grandchild brings unique happiness. Grandchildren just make you feel better when you are around them. They are the sunshine for your soul & medicine for your mind.

We do not need to wait for any plot twists before the rest of this year ends. All you need is to sit back, relax, & observe everything this year has brought to you so far. We keep waiting for the one moment, one magic to happen & when it does happen, we forget to live it. Instead of cherishing it, we just pass through it.

We keep waiting for things to make sense, but once…. just once if you look back at everything life has brought to you, it will make sense, & it is not just about the happy moments. It is about every emotion you sailed through, including the pain.

The happy moments were the ones you once wished for, even if it was just a small talk with your old friend. But enough now. Pause. Breathe. Life is not a race; it is a journey you are meant to walk at your own speed.

As the year presses so quickly, I am learning life is never greener on the other side. It is greener where I stand. Where I choose to notice. Where I choose to be present. Where I stop comparing my journey with someone else & their highlight reel.

For the rest of this year, do not ask for resolution lists or dramatic endings. One should ask for reflection. For sitting back. For breathing. The moment you survived when the world came crashing down. The moment when you thought you lost everything but found yourself.

Remember, life is never greener on the other side. Life is greener where you stand, & for the next three weeks I will be standing by & with my four grandchildren.

Just few observations again dear friends & provide an opinion in my world. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your being here. If my journey encourages you also, all is well with my soul.

Looking forward to next week; this is Kenn Butler in Paradise, Nelson with best wishes.
