Uniqueness…
Greeting dear friends & fellow navigators, & welcome to my world this week. We spend so much time adjusting ourselves to people, their expectations, their needs, their preferences just to suit others’ convenience. At the end of the day, we realize how much we have changed & start questioning ourselves: “Is this really me? “Is this how I have imagined myself to be?”
Why do we need to be like someone else; just to be on their favorite list of people? At some point, we start wondering, am I growing, or am I just becoming easier for everyone else to accept? Why is this validation even necessary? I simply do not understand.
If we are not proud of our identity, it would give a chance for others to pinpoint our flaws. Let us be proud of ourselves. Real characters are rare to find these days, so we should be more than happy flexing our uniqueness. The genuine ones will stay, & the fake ones will leave anyway. Any day, fewer real ones are far better than a bunch of fake ones, are they not?
Social media play a major role in this, where approval is literally quantified through likes, comments & & followers. So, youngsters today are blindly following the social media influencers & there is a kind of pressure to mould themselves accordingly & be the “likable” person among their peers.
I am not saying we should adjust in any situations. There are times when it is needed to some extent, but there is a difference between being considerate & constantly abandoning yourself. Adjusting is healthy when it helps us understand others. It becomes unhealthy when we must disappear to keep them comfortable.
We do not have to force the entire world to accept us overnight.
Some people will stay.
Some will leave.
Some will understand us later, & it is completely okay, this is life.
There is a difference between growth & acceptance. We grow when we learn something, we even apologize when we do something wrong, but we can erase our identity, our character, for the sake of being acceptable by everyone.
The goal is not to become someone the world will accept but to be someone more mature & strong whom we recognize when we look into the mirror years later.
Just few observations again dear friends & provide an opinion in my world. Thank you for stopping by. In a world where everyone is constantly scrolling, the fact you stopped to read, left a clap, shared a thought means something genuinely special to me.
