IN FOCUS | LEVI HAWKEN
From skate parks and graffiti to sculpture and contemporary art.
Based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Levi Hawken is a largely self-taught sculptor and painter whose work draws on a relationship with the built environment.
Influenced by skateboarding, graffiti and architecture, Levi transforms forms derived from letters and symbols into striking three-dimensional objects. Working in concrete, wood, glass, bronze and aluminium, his sculptures explore scale, structure and the interplay of light and shadow.
There’s something wonderfully architectural about his work — bold, geometric forms that feel equally at home in a gallery, garden or urban landscape.
We’re delighted to represent Levi’s work at Quiet Dog Gallery.
