Collingwood Street Pharmacy
Gary Chalmers, Collingwood St Pharmacy, NELSON My family and I moved to Nelson in 1992, where I worked at Nelson Hospital, then community pharmacies around the region, including 5 years at, the then, Prices Pharmacy. In 2006 we purchased the pharmacy known as Collingwood Dispensary, and re-launched it as Collingwood St Pharmacy. The two reasons for the change because was many people didn’t relate to a difference between “dispensary” and “pharmacy” (the former perhaps concentrates more on “dispensing”), AND because we’d get a phone call every few months from some lost soul saying “I’m standing in the main street of Collingwood, and I can’t see your shop anywhere?” In 2009 we relocated to our current site on the corner of Collingwood St and Selwyn Place, in the “Health @ 132” complex, a vibrant mix of healthcare professionals and the iconic Broccoli Row café. We work closely with our colleagues, striving to provide the best care we can through good sensible advice, and a range of well-priced and hand-picked medicines. Lately, pharmacists have been given the opportunity to sell, and prescribe, a widened range of previously prescription only treatments. Among those are Sildenafil (also known as Viagra, Silvasta, Vedafil – for erectile dysfunction), Trimethoprim (for UTI’s – “bladder” infection); ECP (emergency contraception – “morning after pill”). We wish all our customers a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. Just a reminder that Xmas day is just under a month away (wow) and now is a good time to plan your repeats and new prescriptions so you won’t be caught out over the holidays – particularly if you are planning to travel away.
