Lisa Chandler ‘landscapes of loss’ at Quiet Dog Gallery
Lisa Chandler ‘landscapes of loss’ opens on thursday 18 march from 5.30pm.Lisa Chandler will be attending and as always, we’d love your company
Lisa Chandler has created an exhibition for our times. Often powerful and unflinching, at other times softer and subtle: the show reflects on life in a world gripped by a pandemic, the climate change crisis and on-going conflicts. Painful emotions such as fear, isolation and grief are tackled but equally importantly, so is hope, love and community.
Chandler has exhibited work internationally and across New Zealand. Her touring show ‘The Dividing Line’ was seen here in Nelson at The Suter Art Gallery in 2018 and is about to open at the Tauranga Art Gallery. Before COVID changed our world Lisa shared her time between Nelson and her studio in Leipzig, Germany.
She has been a finalist in a number of major New Zealand art awards including the National Contemporary Art Award (2015), the New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award (2018, 2015) and the Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Award (2015, 2014 and 2012). She holds an MFA (Hons) from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, Auckland.
