Nelson City Taxis requires more drivers, and owner / operators as our business expands. We pride ourselves on a high standard of customer service and professionalism – standards that have seen our business grow steadily within the region.
We are 24 hours a day and have recently seen increased business due to reliability, and the high standards offered. Early evening work is increasing during the week, and the demand has grown considerably over the past 12 months. Currently drivers have been rushed off their feet, as at times demand has begun to outstrip supply – with Nelson being a desirable regional destination, the forecast ahead only looks to get more promising.
Day shifts become available from time to time, but currently we have mainly rostered late shifts available – this is the perfect time to get into the industry, with the holiday season approaching the opportunity to earn is increased.
Drivers are supplied with high quality later model cars that are a pleasure to drive. Training is supplied and early costs such as uniforms are covered initially. Owner operators will need to invest in late model vehicles (assistance to acquire finance is possible), and share in the benefits of doing so.
This is a great opportunity to make good money. There are several night shifts available, part time or full time. These shifts can rotate so you experience differing demand, meet work safe requirements, and provide some time off nights.
Taxi driving is fun and satisfying. A driver is generally sub contracted to work a shift, you may be an employee, or self employed – however you will have a commitment to fulfil a shift or shifts once approved.
1-6 days a week available, shifts generally vary between 8 to 12 hours, but if you are having a good night, and want to make more money you can work up to 14 hours. Income varies as it depends on how much work you get. However, on average it’s higher rather than lower. As you gain experience it gets even better.
Nelson City Taxis holds a lot of key contracts within the Nelson /Tasman region; including ACC, Ministry of Education, and Air New Zealand. These contracts regularly see our drivers transporting people to such places as Blenheim – and sometimes even as far as Christchurch! We also pride ourselves on being heavily involved in the community – providing sponsorship to many large events such as Marchfest, Cancer Society and Hospice Gala functions, and Ciderfest – which in turn provides our drivers with great earning potential, and our customers a safe and reliable ride home.
Taxi drivers are a connected group, with times of very busy money making and down time between jobs a relief. Customers at night are varied and often friendly with good conversation.
