Warmly invited to celebrate the opening of Constructs by Contemporary Weaver Lane Hawkins at Refinery Artspace

You are warmly invited to celebrate the opening of Constructs by Contemporary Weaver Lane Hawkins.

Lane produces gorgeous works that comprise of locally harvested natural and found materials woven to produce contemporary forms. These forms are guided by the materials used and reflect the delicate balance between people and nature.
Lane has studied both Māori and Japanese weaving practices and techniques. His work reflects contemporary Japanese basketry and incorporates the natural materials and approaches Māori have been using in New Zealand for hundreds of years.

Hope – Anita Kagaya will also be opening at 5.30pm Monday 23rd. You are invited to celebrate Anita’s first solo exhibition with her. This project aspires to see exterior tragedy with a more inward positive light. It is a space that attempts to inspire the audience to recreate or re-experience their own narratives under new light and purposes.

The work yearns to reminisce the beauty of the past, and aspires to envision a favourable future. It welcomes the community to enter a totally new space and feel free to experience and feel whatever they may need to.
