A Mid-Winter Spectacular: The Suter Art Gallery
Mid Winter SpectacularOn Friday 8 July, The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū will host a Mid-Winter Spectacular Fundraising Dinner and Auction at Hopgoods Restaurant.
The highlight of the up-for-bid items is a brand-new Karl Maughan artwork that was painted and given especially for this auction.
It is presently on display in our Contemplation Gallery, providing a rare chance to view a work by Karl Maughan before anyone else in the art world. You are welcome to visit, personally examine the artwork, and place a bid.
All the money raised from this auction will be put toward new acquisitions for the permanent collection of The Suter. All auction items have been generously donated 100% which we acknowledge with gratitude.

Top Art is an annual exhibition featuring some of New Zealand’s top secondary school Visual Art portfolios, toured by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).
Top Art provides an opportunity for students and teachers to see the high standard of art produced in schools and gain an understanding of what is required to achieve Excellence or Scholarship in Visual Art at NCEA Level 3. It is also a great opportunity for members of the public to see the high quality of art being created in schools.
Top Art 2022 is on view at The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū until Friday 15 July 2022.
