Supporting local and selecting environmentally friendly, sustainable products is at the heart of Tim’s Garden philosophy

Supporting local and selecting environmentally friendly, sustainable products is at the heart of Tim’s Garden philosophy, which is why we wanted to share some of the great local businesses we support and use regularly with you all!
Introducing the EmGuard ™ (plant guards), which was developed by Emma (at the age of 15!!!) from local Nelson business @futurecology, as a solution to plastic debris entering waterways from nearby plantings.
These fantastic plants guards not only assist in reducing ongoing maintenance time but also greatly improve the chances of plant survival (protection from predators, reduce water loss, and provide a micro-climate favorable to growth).
BEST OF ALL – these do not need to be removed once the plants are established as they naturally break down over time.
A Win-Win-Win in our books! Check them out at www.futurecology.co.nz/emguards

Landscape design, it’s where all successful gardens begin!
A recent client sought to transform their garden into a sanctuary for birds, including autumnal colours while ensuring everything planted was low-maintenance.
The new-build home was perched on a steep hill with full sun for most of the day. However, soil conditions were poor and in a high wind zone.
A selection of plants were chosen to suit the conditions and the client brief some of which included:
? Cabbage Tree/ Cordyline Australis
? Manuka / Leptospermum Scoparium
? Coprosma Acerosa
? Flax/ Phormium ‘Platts Black’
? Lobelia Angulata
? Corokia Cotoneaster
(Note: Small selection of full planting palette shown here).
