Are You our New Golf Coach?

Special Olympics Nelson – Golf Section are looking for a new volunteer Head Coach for their 11 keen young people, ranging in age from early 20’s to mid-30’s.

The ideal person for the role would have an eagerness to work with athletes with intellectual disabilities and be confident to develop their golfing skills to a higher level. Several players have gained the skills and confidence to now compete in regular 9 or 18 hole competitions. You will be supported by an experienced Assistant Coach and an enthusiastic bunch of parents. Police vetting is required and ongoing Coach Training Modules are available run by Special Olympics New Zealand.

Currently the program runs for a couple of hours on a Thursday afternoon based at Greenacres Golf Club, although there could be some flexibility around this arrangement. Some equipment is available. Sessions are varied and tailored to the individuals’ need within a fun and inclusive environment.

If you are interested or keen to find out more and are in a position to commit time during the week to help out in this rewarding volunteer role, please contact Heather Bryant, Assistant Coach, on 027 454 5621 or email tandhbryant@gmail.com.
