Te Ramaroa returns to light up Nelson’s night
Bayleys Te Ramaroa – Nelson Light Festival is back to brighten up Nelson’s city centre this winter over five nights from 3 –7 July.
This year, the festival will cover a slightly smaller area than usual due to redevelopment work on Bridge Street and Morrison Square.
Despite the reduced space, the installations from 22 participating artists promise to be just as spectacular. You can expect the city to become a vibrant canvas of illuminated art; accessible and free for all to enjoy.
The ever-popular community stage is returning to 1903 Square where artists, cultural groups and community performers will bring their talent and rich heritage to life through light, music and dance; a testament to the creative excellence and cultural pride of our region. Expect a wide diversity of performances, from soulful folk songs to electrifying contemporary dance.
There will be some fun early morning activities too and our famous silent disco is back, starting your day off on the right foot through dance! NMIT students will showcase their light installations on campus and look out for something very special in the Cathedral by Angus Muir from Darklight.
And if you see Scott and Morri, our festival ambassadors (aka The Beacon Heads) around town, say hi. They’re proudly supported by Scott Construction this year and are looking forward to helping light up Nelson again this July.
